Andalusia is art

The artistic heritage of Andalusia can be witnessed in each and every one of its cities: the Alhambra of Granada, the Mezquita (Mosque) of Cordoba, and the Giralda of Seville, a former minaret which now serves as the cathedral’s bell tower, to name but a few. The region’s buildings, castles and monasteries combine Islamic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, to form a heritage which is still alive today. There are a wide range of festivals and celebrations throughout the Andalusian region. With handmade gifts, local cuisine, music and religious festivities, there is something for everyone. Carnival brings Andalusia to life, with fancy dress, humour and happiness. Meanwhile, Holy week, in the run-up to Easter, is a traditional religious event unique to our region. Bull fights, the May Crosses festival and Andalusian gypsy music festivals all reflect Andalusia’s unique and enduring identity- rooted in tradition, but very much alive today.
